Visitors to Saskatchewan Provincial Parks are now free to enjoy a campfire during their stay.  As of April 1, 2008, the government eliminated the $3-per-day campfire permit fee that was introduced in 2003, saving park goers about $375,000 annually.

Saskatchewan Games Council is the permanent regulatory body of the Saskatchewan Games Program. Membership in the Council is comprised of delegates acting on behalf of parties who have agreed to accept the responsibilities of the Council and include:

  • The Council Chairperson
  • The Ministry of Tourism, Parks, Culture and Sport
  • Sask Sport Inc.
  • The Saskatchewan High Schools Athletic Association
  • The Provincial Association of Zone Sport Councils
  • Three Members at Large

Roles and Responsibilities of the Council:

  • To establish the Summer and Winter Games sport calendar
  • To invite Provincial Sport Governing Bodies to request inclusion and participation in each Games program calendar
  • To review, evaluate and select an appropriate host site for all Saskatchewan Games
  • To provide financial assistance to the Games host
  • To develop the general rules of the Games and act as guardian and interpreter of those rules
  • To monitor all games-related functions to be performed by partners represented on the Council
  • To ensure a continuous appraisal and evaluation of the Saskatchewan Games Program
