  Did You Know? Tourism spending by the government has doubled in 2008-09 with an additional $8 million provided to support an industry that plays a vital role in both economic development and promoting pride. Youth Leadership Leaders of TomorrowTime and again, young people have said that they want a voice in decision-making that affects them. They have also identified a need to develop leadership and new job skills, and safety and well-being expertise. As well, young people want opportunities for meaningful involvement in the community. The ministry worked in partnership with Crown Investments Corporation (CIC) to develop the "Leaders of Tomorrow" initiative that provides for the designation of one youth position on each subsidiary Crown board. Youth representatives will provide demographic balance on the boards and will infuse the boards with youthful energy and perspectives. This program will also support succession planning for Crown boards.
