Did You Know?

The government has doubled its tourism spending in 2008-09 to $16 million to help make Saskatchewan more competitive in attracting visitors to the province.  Tourism is a $1.5 billion industry that employs one in nine workers in Saskatchewan.

The Provincial Youth Advisory Committee (PYAC) is one example of youth and government working together in meaningful ways to make substantive change in areas of concern to youth.

The main objective of PYAC is to engage youth in decision making, thereby developing the capacity of the next generation of Saskatchewan leaders.  Through the course of their term, members will learn about strategic planning and the formation of government policy, how policy is created, developed and adopted.

PYAC will advise government on internal policy, programming and strategic issues.  Since its launch, PYAC has provided valuable feedback on government policies and strategies related to youth.

The possibilities for meaningful dialogue between young people and government are many and exciting.  The PYAC mandate and work will reflect the valuable input youth can make to government, and will help forge a direction that will be of benefit to everyone involved.
