Visitors to Saskatchewan Provincial Parks are now free to enjoy a campfire during their stay.  As of April 1, 2008, the government eliminated the $3-per-day campfire permit fee that was introduced in 2003, saving park goers about $375,000 annually.

The Saskatchewan Lottery System
The lottery system helps dedicated volunteers deliver valuable sport, culture and recreation programs in their communities.  Lottery funding in Saskatchewan aids over 12,000 voluntary organizations in delivering programs across the province.  The Minister of Tourism, Parks, Culture and Sport has responsibility for lotteries, one of five gaming activities in Saskatchewan.

The Government of Saskatchewan provides a licence to the Western Canadian Lotteries Corporation (WCLC) to conduct and manage the lottery scheme on behalf of the province.  Saskatchewan, Alberta and Manitoba are the three shareholders of the non-profit WCLC.  The WCLC solely conducts the Western 6/49, the Plus, Pick 3, Sport Select, Prairie Keno, Keno, Extra and Scratch 'n Win lottery games and participates in the conduct of the Special Event, Lotto 6/49, Super 7 and National Scratch 'n Win lotteries through the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation (ILC).

The ILC is incorporated under the Corporations Act (Canada) and its shares are held by the provinces.  The WCLC is the regional marketing organization for the Special Event, Lotto 6/49 and Super 7 lotteries in Saskatchewan, Alberta, Manitoba, the Northwest Territories and the Yukon.

Through an agreement with the Minister, Sask Sport Inc. has been designated to act as the provincial marketing organization to sell WCLC lottery tickets in the province.

The Saskatchewan Lottery Trust Fund for Sport, Culture and Recreation
The Interprovincial Lotteries Act, 1984 provides the authority for the Saskatchewan Lotteries Trust Fund for Sport, Culture and Recreation to exist in Saskatchewan.  The net lottery profits are transferred to the Saskatchewan Lotteries Trust Fund for Sport, Culture and Recreation.  As per the agreement between the provincial government and the three Globals (Sask Sport Inc., SaskCulture and the Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association), proceeds from the Trust Fund are disbursed through almost 1,200 sport, culture, recreation and community groups (urban, rural and northern municipalities, First Nations and several voluntary organizations) approved by the Minister, who in turn distribute the funds to more than 12,000 volunteer non-profit groups.
